Cloud Technology Partners Names VP of OpenStack Solutions

Cloud Technology Partners is putting its money where its mouth is with OpenStack. The company has created a new senior executive position that will focus on OpenStack solutions, putting a greater focus on the importance of cloudTP’s growing OpenStack initiatives.

The company has named Ken Pepple the new vice president of OpenStack solutions. An IT industry veteran, Pepple is a former senior executive at Sun Microsystems, Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) and Internap Network Services. He has held roles ranging from technology director to chief technologist.

As an early adopter of OpenStack, cloudTP is a provider in the Rackspace Cloud: Private Edition ecosystem, and the company has hopes to extend its position in the OpenStack cloud computing space.

Pepple is no stranger to the OpenStack community. He has regularly contributed to the OpenStack project and has been referenced and quoted in a number of industry papers and articles. He has also written several reference books, including “Deploying OpenStack.”

“OpenStack is another revolution in IT and cloud computing, especially for enterprises looking to develop scalable, low-cost, internal private clouds … and it’s a reality now,” said Chris Greendale, CEO of Cloud Technology Partners, in a prepared statement. “Ken’s technical experience and executive leadership have made a global impact on the world of cloud computing, and we all look forward to helping shape the future of cloud computing and OpenStack implementations.”

Pepple most recently headed up cloud development at Internap Network Services. While there, he developed and introduced a set of public cloud services, including the first compute service based on OpenStack Nova. Prior to that, he was at Oracle, where he helped to define the company’s cloud enterprise technology strategy. Before joining Oracle, Pepple was a 14-year veteran of Sun, where he was the chief technologist for the Asia Pacific Professional Services organization.

“I am extremely excited to be joining cloudTP as we engage with the OpenStack community and those clients on the leading edge of transforming enterprise computing,” Pepple said in a prepared statement. “It is a chance to work with the best and share a future vision of the innovative and strategic opportunities cloud computing can enable.”
