As Dell (NASDAQ: DELL) works to integrate the recent Quest Software buyout into its business, there are clear signs the acquisition has a heavy cloud services and SaaS emphasis. The evidence: Dell’s Executive Director of SaaS and Application Services, Victor Raisys, is part of the integration team.

Raisys was mentioned in a recent Quest Software memo to employees, updating team members about the integration effort. Quest Software has more than 200 products and an extensive channel partner program. It’s clear that the integration teams are trying to decide which Quest products will survive the integration. (Hunch: Most will, though I don’t know which ones won’t.)

No official announcements have been made but you can bet one key area of focus will be Quest’s migration services for Exchange Server, SharePoint and other Microsoft applications. Quest ranks among the top providers of on-premises and cloud migration services, assisting many customers with Office 365 deployments.

Raisys, meanwhile, has worked in and around the software industry for at least 19 years — and he also has channel experience. During tours of duty with Microsoft, he helped the software giant with Windows management technologies, Linux competitive opportunities, security partner engagements, and operating systems. Frankly, that sounds like an ideal background for an executive who is evaluating Quest Software’s IT management portfolio, much of which involves Windows Server, database and virtualization management.

Raisys joined Dell in 2010, focusing on SaaS, application services, BPO product management and Dell Services. Now, he’s got his hands full with the Quest integration. And you can bet he’ll find some synergies between Quest and Dell’s own vCloud initiative.
