Cloud Management: RightScale Opens Japanese Subsidiary

RightScale

In an effort to further capitalize on cloud momentum in the Asia Pacific regions, cloud management specialist RightScale has opened up a wholly-owned subsidiary in Tokyo. A large factor? The recent launch of the Amazon Web Services Tokyo region. Yosuke Shindo will be taking the reins as RightScale’s Sales and Business Development Director for Japan as the company seeks international success.

RightScale Japan is built to provide sales, support, and services for local enterprises, cloud service providers, and cloud ISVs taking advantage of the company’s vendor-agnostic RightScale Cloud Management Platform. Customers in the region already include NTT DOCOMO, according to the press release.

Moreover, RightScale already has partnerships in place with regional systems integrators like Kumoya, Inc. and Hitachi Solutions, meaning that the Japanese subsidiary had a strong channel foundation before its doors even opened.

The decision to open this office was very likely a no-brainer: between the aforementioned Japanese launch of the popular Amazon Web Services infrastructure cloud, coupled with the pre-existing fact that RightScale saw huge business momentum in Japan in 2010, RightScale Japan was almost an inevitability.
