NEC Corp. of America has introduced its latest softphone, UNIVERGE SP350. The multimedia SP350 Softphone, which runs as a PC application, shares real-time information from a personal computer or laptop and delivers high quality voice through a USB-connected headset/handset.
“With the SP350, people can share real-time, high-quality information, whether they’re in the office or working remotely,” said Jay Krauser, general manager, sales support and engineering, NEC. “Our new softphone is compact but versatile, has the same features as a desktop phone but with the addition of advanced multimedia applications and is designed to help employees be even more productive and efficient.”
The SP350 can replace or supplement a standard desktop phone. Through a VPN Internet connection, individuals who are away from their desks can handle calls as if they were in the office and interact via voice, audio, video or text just by logging onto their PC. The SP350 also provides Microsoft Office Outlook integration support for voice calling functions.
Functionality includes drag-and-drop calling, presence information, and other advanced network features, including collaborations through applications like audio/video conferencing, application sharing, file transfer, whiteboard and instant messaging. The call log feature enables the storage of information about outgoing/incoming calls, missed calls as well as recorded call files.
