HPE, NTT Team Up on Cloud

Customers of the month-old Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) can access cloud services through NTT Communications thanks to a partnership announced Wednesday.

An agreement with NTT America allows HPE customers to access NTT Comunnications’ IaaS portfolio, which includes private, public and hybrid cloud.

“As one of HPE’s few global IaaS partners, we will deliver outcomes-driven cloud solutions based on integration of best-of-breed technologies within our infrastructure to help our joint customers stay one step ahead of their competition,” said Jeffrey Bannister, NTT America’s executive vice president, Global Enterprise Services.

HPE has wasted little time since it split from HP Inc. last month. The latter company will focus on PCs and printers, while HPE will focus on enterprise solutions.

HPE made another cloud-related move this week, partnering with Microsoft and its public cloud service, Azure.

“Public cloud services, like those Azure provides, are an important aspect of a hybrid cloud strategy and Microsoft Azure blends perfectly with HPE solutions to deliver what our customers need most,” HPE CEO Meg Whitman said.

IaaS is on the rise, studies say. Transparency Market Research found that the industry was valued at $15.6 billion in 2014 and will reach $73.9 billion in 2022.

“What was once viewed as a disruptive innovation, IaaS is now a sustained innovation with many businesses shifting to off-premise[s] solutions,” said Chuck Adams, who directs HPE’s Partner Ready Service Provider Program. “NTT Com’s IaaS offers customers the option to purchase services that run applications on the latest and most efficient IT infrastructure without the overhead required to do so.”
