Extreme Networks Taps Lenovo Alum David Hume as CIO

Extreme Networks (EXTR) has appointed David Hume as chief information officer, responsible for driving the company’s global IT strategy.

“David’s breadth of industry experience includes technology design and implementation, establishing business processes and managing thousands of employees globally,” said Frank Blohm, executive vice president of Operations and IT at Extreme Networks, in a statement. “His unique leadership skills and many accomplishments make him a perfect fit for Extreme Networks.”

Hume has worked in the technology industry for more than 20 years, and played a role in IBM’s (IBM) divestiture project following the sale of its PC division to Lenovo. Hume has also served as a global delivery executive for Lenovo, responsible for overseeing the company’s deployment of its strategic design and interfacing between multiple teams, according to the press release. He recently participated in Lenovo’s acquisition of IBM’s low-end server business in January.

Last week, Extreme Networks announced it would be expanding its Unified Edge portfolio to include the Summit X460-G2 fixed switch and the IdentiFi Wireless 3805 access point, which were designed to help users simplify and future-proof their networks.
