Distribution Watch: Ingram Micro, D&H, Toshiba

Good day, and welcome to another edition of Distribution Watch, our weekly collection of all things distribution-related. This week we’ve got news from Ingram Micro (IM), D&H Distributing and Toshiba, so sit back, relax and let the watching begin.

Ingram Micro: The broadline distributor has added storage technology vendor X-IO Technologies to its line card, enabling Ingram Micro’s resellers to provide X-IO’s Intelligent Storage Element (ISE) technology to businesses across the United States.

According to X-IO, “The agreement ensures a strong beneficial pairing between X-IO and resellers who specialize in delivering desktop and server virtualization, transactional processing, Big Data and cloud service solutions which meet the increased customer demand for high-performance storage solutions with reduced total cost of ownership.”

“Demand for hybrid data storage solutions that reduce costs, scale and offer great performance is growing at a steady clip, and presents a lucrative sales and service opportunity for our channel partners,” said Scott Zahl, general manager and vice president, Advanced Computing Division, Ingram Micro U.S. “X-IO has the solutions and expertise to support our partners as they extend their solutions in Virtualization, Business Intelligence and accelerating Transactional Processes.”

D&H: Our friends in Harrisburg was ranked as the top distributor in The ASCII Group’s annual Distribution Survey for 2013, winning more categories than any other broadline (full line) distribution partner in the survey. D&H has achieved this distinction five years in a row, every year since the survey has been established.

The distributor won eight categories and tied one more out of 14 total categories. The company received top marks in every category involving customer service.

D&H won or tied in the following areas:

  • Accurate shipping

  • Ease of doing business

  • Knowledgeable and helpful sales reps

  • Post-sales support

  • Pre-sales support

  • Quick issue resolution

  • Shipping and handling charges (tied)

  • Timely shipment

  • Website ease of use

Toshiba: The international IT vendor has signed an agreement with Nimble Storage to distribute Nimble Storage hybrid arrays through its value-added distributor and reseller partner community in Japan. In addition, Toshiba IT-Services Corporation will provide local language 24×7 on-site support for all Nimble hybrid storage products throughout Japan.

“Our partnership with Toshiba is a great stepping stone for our growth plans in Japan.  This is a very important market for Nimble and aligning with a reputable partner that has its history steeped in flash technology, provides great momentum for our company,” said Suresh Vasudevan, chief executive officer at Nimble Storage. “The Nimble Storage platform addresses customer demands by providing the flexibility needed to deliver better performance at a reasonable cost.”

And that’s Distribution Watch for this week. Come on back next week to see what we’ll be taking a look at. Until then, stay safe.
