Broadcom Expands Channel Partner Network

Communications solution provider Broadcom (BRCM) has added more than 40 new channel partners to its reseller ecosystem, including manufacturers, VARs, original device manufacturers, independent design houses and an e-commerce distribution channel. The new partners will join Broadcom’s existing ecosystem, which includes Avnet (AVT), Arrow Electronics (ARW), Ayla Networks, Lantronix and TecStar, among others.

Broadcom’s newly enhanced network is expected to provide its global customers with greater access to its semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications, including the WICED Smart and WICED Wi-Fi platforms as well as its RoboSwitch, StrataConnect and NetXtreme Ethernet solutions. The new channel partners will also allow Broadcom to expand its sales options within the Internet of Things and high volume Ethernet IC markets and grow its sales model to meet demand for its product portfolio, according to the company.

“As the IoT market continues to evolve, we’re seeing increased demand from thousands of emerging developers wanting to get their hands on our low-cost, hightly integrated development platforms, modules and resource materials,” said Vincent Brocato, senior director of Broadcom’s Global Channel Sales, in a statement. “By making our technology easy to use and easily available through our expanded global channel, companies both large and small now have immediate access to the technology and tools required to easily bring their innovative ideas to life.”

In March, Broadcom announced its OpenFlow Data Plane Abstraction v1.0 specification, software and API during the Open Networking Summit to encourage other companies to release OpenFlow-based switches.

Broadcom channel partners will be able to access the company’s new online support portal and a library of data sheets, applications notes, video tutorials and other guides to help them get acquainted with its hardware and software portfolio. There are also a number of Broadcom-moderated online communities available to help developers flesh out their ideas and solve challenges with other partners.
