BCM One to Buy Trestle Networks Amid Ongoing Evolution

BCM One, the former McGraw Communications, intends to buy an IT services company as it continues transforming beyond the CLEC label.

That evolution began about two years ago when New York-based BCM One, then called McGraw, started adding managed and cloud services – including hosted VoIP and SIP, plus IaaS, DRaaS and CaaS – to its CLEC model. The changes went further this year when McGraw merged with its sister companies BCM, a master agency, and 20/20 ComWare, a software firm, to become BCM One.

And now, BCM One is taking the next step in its metamorphosis.

The company told Channel Partners on Tuesday it plans to purchase Trestle Networks, an IT services provider that sells and supports gear from AirTight Networks, Aruba Networks, F5 and Juniper Networks. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed as both companies are privately held. David Landers, CEO of Trestle Networks, will join BCM One as director of engineering.

Trestle Networks is headquartered in Colorado. Its customers include enterprises, data centers, educational institutions, global service providers and high-security government institutions.

BCM One encountered Trestle Networks last year during development of its Intelligent Network Services in New York City. After working with Trestle Networks and its people, BCM One’s leaders wanted to snap up the IT expert.

“We saw the skills and capabilities that the Trestle Networks team possessed,” said Frank Ahearn, founder and co-CEO of BCM One. “As we broaden our managed service portfolio, we realized those skills would be a vital part of our success. We are pleased to take our relationship with Trestle Networks to the next level and brings these skills to our clients and partners.”

BCM One says its changes over the past couple of years position it as a one-stop shop for computing, cloud and communications. Acquiring Trestle Networks gives BCM One a heavy IT bent. This should prove beneficial to agents and resellers whose end users want to outsource their communications and IT needs to a single provider.

The Trestle transaction is expected to close on April 1 of next year.
