SolarWinds MSP Announces the Latest in Password Protection
SolarWinds MSP just introduced the latest thing in password protection. The provider on Wednesday announced a new Passportal promotion to enable MSPs to offer private, branded password management as a service to build new recurring revenue streams. This is through the SolarWinds Passportal Site.
Eligible Passportal Site partners are able to leverage market development funds (MDF) to help them build these new recurring revenue streams. Passportal Site is designed to help MSPs cut down on daily operational snags and frustrations by automating the management of customers’ passwords and credentials, so they can maintain them in a safe, co-managed solution. This significantly ups the customer value factor.
“Password management as a service is a relatively new category for MSPs and as a result, MSPs need more assistance in developing the market for this type of solution,” said Colin Knox, director of product strategy, SolarWinds Passportal. “This MDF promotion is centered on SolarWinds Passportal’s investment in our partners to help them accelerate their success with this service offering. Partners can use this money to help fuel marketing or sales through activities such as website development, trade shows, sales promotions, or email campaigns. It’s a win-win.”
Passportal Site gives MSP customers the ability to:
- Centralize and safeguard corporate and personal passwords.
- Set up folders to organize and categorize passwords.
- Manage all employees’ data access rights.
- Receive notifications of all passwords known by departing employees and cut access.
- Generate strong and unique passwords.
- Log in to saved websites with one click.
- Run audits and reports internally.
“Passwords are the gateway to everything, and a threat actor’s dream,” said Marynel Wahl, chief operating officer at InfraNet Solutions, a SolarWinds MSP partner. “SolarWinds’ password portal will make compliance and peace of mind easy to achieve. The weak link of passwords are no longer an obstacle to be reckoned with — our clients now have a safe haven, time savings, comfort in knowing, and information has never been as quick and easy to consistently retrieve and audit.”
Statistics already have shown that password resets are down, and calls into tech support are decreasing as more users are embracing the new password management systems. Engineers also are no longer doing repetitive resets, allowing them to move on to bigger and better security tasks.
“Our managed services clients are thrilled with their branded portal for all to use, both for corporate and personal use,” Wahl added. “Users have embraced the ease of use and the ability to help themselves by fixing the pesky problem of their own password management. Any channel member should have this in their portfolio, even just as the first line of defense and keeping front and center with your trusted clients.”
