eSentire, a managed detection and response (MDR) provider, has launched its new Risk Advisory and Managed Prevention services aimed at helping organizations protect themselves against the evolving threat landscape.

This set of services assesses an organization’s people, process, policies and technology, from on-premises to the cloud, for systemic risks and potential security gaps to prevent attacks from happening. It accelerates the security function’s ability to adapt to the threat landscape and prevents security incidents related to business objectives.

Sean Blenkhorn, eSentire’s vice president of solutions engineering and services, tells Channel Futures’ MSSP Insider that partners can use the services to augment their own portfolio of services. eSentire provides a cybersecurity offering for midsize enterprises, and it works with technology, referral, reseller and MSP partners.

“These services can enable our partners to build more valuable relationships with their customers, reducing churn and increasing the value of their business,” he said. “For our partners that have similar (overlapping) services to Risk Advisory and Managed Prevention, we will work with them to integrate their capabilities with our portfolio to ensure that together we can provide a unified partnership and a differentiated service.”

The goal of the new services is to help eSentire customers, both direct and indirect, develop a “more mature” security strategy, allowing them to better respond to the evolving threats and regulatory landscapes, Blenkhorn said.

“With that maturity comes requirements for additional service(s) and/or product(s) that their customers will need to address their identified gap(s),” he said. “This will enable partners to offer an array of services to add value to their customer relationships and ensure they have a number of tools in their portfolio from penetration testing to virtual-CISO.”

For eSentire partners that resell its risk assessment service to their customers, the company may determine that a customer has risk(s) associated with remote access for employees that could be mitigated by two-factor authentication (2FA), Blenkhorn said. This can create an opportunity for the partner to show a customer where they have incurred risk in their IT strategy, and in doing so create a potential sales opportunity for that partner to remediate the risk, he said.

eSentire also announced it will launch Managed Endpoint Defense, powered by Carbon Black, in January.

“Our partners will have key additional preventative controls to position with their customers that is effective at mitigating real risk in their customers’ environments,” Blenkhorn said. “Organizations have struggled with the coordinated implementation, best practices, deployment and management of advanced technologies such as next-gen antivirus (NGAV). Customers rarely argue the value of such solutions, but often struggle with the complexity (This) will address those gaps and provide additional revenue opportunity for our partners.”

Channel partners, specifically, have become a key mechanism for eSentire’s future growth with “significant investment” from its executive team to put more focus on improving all aspects of its channel program, he said.

In October, eSentire announced it is buying Versive, a cybersecurity AI company that delivers advanced threat detection and automation with its platform. eSentire will bring together AI with its MDR platform and security analyst expertise.
