Barracuda kicked off its virtual Secured.22 Conference with a flurry of cybersecurity and data protection product updates that impact partners. They aim to protect against ransomware and “help customers solve complex digital transformation challenges.”

Here’s the one managed service providers will probably find the most interesting. Barracuda has integrated its GloudGen Firewall with its extended detection and response (XDR) platform. Other innovations to Barracuda XDR are the mapping of threat detection rules against the MITRE ATT&CK framework and the addition of security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR) capabilities to its security operations center (SOC).

Barracuda researchers have identified and analyzed more than 100 high-profile ransomware attacked in the past year. They found that five key verticals remain dominant targets: education, health care, cities, financial and infrastructure. Also, spear phishing – impersonating a trusted source via email to steal information – is on the rise.

The Barracuda XDR innovations aim to combat these challenging cybersecurity issues. Specifically, the integration between Barracuda XDR and CloudGen Firewall gives partners visibility and insights via 24×7 SOC services. The company says this also increases efficiency by reducing product silos and mitigating alert fatigue. Furthermore, it streamlines management of customers’ environments.

Just last year, Barracuda acquired Skout Cybersecurity in part to further help partners with their cybersecurity offerings. Earlier this year, Barracuda integrated its email protection portfolio with its XDR services. Barracuda XDR now includes endpoint, email, cloud, network and server security.

“We’re always looking for ways to empower partners, and MSPs specifically, to take their business to the next level and an important part of that is enabling them to confidently secure their clients’ environments,” said Neal Bradbury, SVP, MSP Business at Barracuda. “Earlier this year, we completed the integration of Barracuda XDR with our email protection portfolio. Now, by integrating the Barracuda CloudGen Firewall with Barracuda XDR, mapping detection rules to the MITRE ATT&CK framework, and adding SOAR to our SOC infrastructure, we can provide comprehensive visibility across multiple attack surfaces through the Barracuda XDR dashboard, while increasing the speed of detection and response time through our SOC.”

But Barracuda wasn’t done at Secured.22. The company also unveiled these enhancements and innovations:

  • Zero trust access: CloudGen Access, part of Barracuda’s SASE platform, now includes web security to protect users regardless of location.

  • Email Protection: Barracuda Email Protection now features zero-trust access. The company says this strengthens the Microsoft 365 environment by continuously verifying and only allowing the right users to access the right resources.

  • Data Protection: Customers now can get Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup in the Microsoft Azure Marketplace.
