Value-added distribution giant ScanSource promoted a longtime employee to lead its North American business.

Tony Sorrentino now serves as ScanSource’s president of North America. As a result, he now oversees the distributor’s North American hardware business and will work to align it with ScanSource’s POS Portal business. He’ll also oversee sales efforts, suppliers and operations.

ScanSource’s Tony Sorrentino

ScanSource said that Sorrentino will work toward bringing partners into “cloud, connectivity and SaaS solutions as they move to a recurring revenue business practice.”

Most recently Sorrentino worked as president, North America sales. He has worked at ScanSource since 1999, when he started as director of merchandising. Since then he has worn a variety of hats, including vice president of networking and security sales and co-president of U.S. and Canada.

ScanSource’s John Eldh

ScanSource chief revenue officer John Eldh said Tony’s leadership will help the company continue its technological convergence.

Here’s our list of channel people on the move in July.

“This is an exciting time for ScanSource, where we are seeing the true merging of hardware distribution and services. The continued evolution and integration in our business is critical as we look to help our partners deliver value-added services to their end users,” Eldh said. “Having Tony leading the charge with his market knowledge and deep partner relationships will be extremely valuable. Tony is an exceptional leader, who has the respect of and credibility with our partners and suppliers.”

Sorrentino will report to Eldh.

Two months ago, ScanSource hired a new chief information officer. Rachel Heyden now holds responsibility for the distributor’s IT strategic planning, operations and security.
