Intuit vet Greg Johnson next month will take the reins as president and CEO of McAfee, replacing Peter Leav.

Johnson will begin his new role on June 13. His appointment as McAfee president and CEO comes as part of the company’s transition to a pure-play consumer protection company. This began following the divestment of McAfee’s Enterprise security business in 2021.

Here’s our list of channel people on the move in April.

Under Leav’s leadership, McAfee recently completed a $14 billion sale to an investor group led by Advent International and Permira.

“The McAfee brand holds an enviable reputation of trust, quality and innovation,” Johnson said. “And I’m excited to lead the company in its next phase of growth. The company’s considerable achievements speak for themselves and are a credit to the hard work and commitment of McAfee team members. I’m proud to join McAfee in defending consumers around the world from cyber threats and look forward to leading McAfee at this pivotal time as we accelerate our growth strategy.”

Johnson previously was Intuit‘s executive vice president and general manager. There, he built a multibillion-dollar consumer technology franchise. He expanded Intuit’s consumer group from a singular product into a suite of consumer financial products.

Johnson also serves on Qualcomm’s board of directors.

In early 2020, Leav succeeded Chris Young as McAfee’s CEO.

“Thank you to the McAfee team for your commitment to our customers and partners, your alignment to our values, and the industry leading results you have driven,” Leav said. “I wish Greg and the team even greater success and have the utmost confidence in the future of McAfee.”

Bruce Chrizen, chairman of McAfee‘s board of directors, said Johnson brings more than 25 years of consumer business experience at innovative, leading brands.

“As we continue to build on McAfee’s 30-year history as a global leader in online protection, Greg’s proven expertise makes him the leader of choice to spearhead future growth for the company,” he said.
