No mention of the fact that Unix only happened because Ritchie and Thompson’s employer, Bell Labs, pulled out of the Multics project – arguably the best and most influential OS ever – and they created Unix (originally the pun was even more obvious as they spelled it “Unics”) because they were suffering from withdrawal symptoms.
