Wi-Fi networking provider Meru Networks (MERU) has unveiled Meru Center, a new software platform that provides a central networked application provisioning engine and management dashboard to customers. A new Meru App Store is also expected to provide customers with access to a host of software-defined networking applications.

Both the Meru Center and the new App Store are expected to help organizations deploy custom-fitted access networks with the native control or third-party management solution that is the best fit for them, according to the press release. Meru Center will provide users with single sign-on, seamless backup, application licensing and a suite of management capabilities for all of Meru’s applications, while the App Store will play host to an expanding library of solutions for customers.

“[Apple] iTunes and [Google] Play Store have transformed the mobile application world for consumers and enterprises,” said Manish Rai, vice president of corporate marketing at Meru, in a statement. “Meru Center and the Meru App Store have the potential to disrupt the enterprise networking market in a similar way by allowing networking IT to easily find, consume and contribute SDN-based networking apps.”

Meru Center will be available in Q4 and the company is actively seeking SDN development partners.
