HP this week introduced new storage products.

The first is blade-based HP StoreVirtual 4630 Storage. It’s intended to cut initial investment and TCO for mid-size businesses. Its features include capabilities that boost application performance; smaller size, which means lower energy costs; 11.25TB per rack-unit capacity; a 40 percent lower dollar-per-gigabyte cost than the previous generation; and ability to scale to 180 TB within the same HP BladeSystem chassis and 720 TB within a management group.

Next there’s the HP StoreVirtual 4330 and 4730 Storage models. Both come with Fibre Channel connectivity for more scalable storage infrastructure supporting virtualization. They also meet application service levels by providing multiprotocol access and one pool of shared storage. They reduce infrastructure costs, administration time and hardware sprawl by replacing multiple storage platforms with a one storage architecture for all data center applications. And they features simplified migration between Fibre Channel and iSCSI connections.

The HP StoreVirtual 4330 FC, 4730 FC and 4630 Storage models are available now from HP and its channel partners. Prices start at $28,000 for the StoreVirtual 4330 system with Fibre Channel support, $63,000 for the 4730 system with Fibre Channel support and $64,000 for the StoreVirtual 4630 system.

Finally, HP also debuted software-defined storage that combines HP StoreVirtual VSA with the new D2220sb Storage Blade. The combination eliminates the need to buy external storage hardware for growing virtualization environments. It is priced at $5,999.
