Hot New Services: AT&T, Windstream, Telarus, More

  • Written by James Anderson
  • May 9, 2019
WTG, Dell and Calltower also are featured here.

Several vendors upgraded their portfolios by partnering with other vendors last month.

Our latest new services roundup exemplifies the convergence of IT and telecommunications. Some of the largest telco companies have expanded far beyond their normal product set. Sprint’s efforts around IoT and security are a good example.

We saw many of these companies harness the technologies of other players in order to achieve this convergence. AT&T formed a partnership with Box around security. Verizon teamed up with Microsoft to embed its voice infrastructure into the software giant’s collaboration platform. Juniper used capabilities from recently purchased Mist Systems to roll out a cloud-based SD-WAN solution. CallTower partnered with Zoom to launch a conferencing service.

We did see some standalone offerings as well. Google Cloud rolled out several new products for partners to sell, and Dell pushed out several new goods at a recent conference.

Scroll through the gallery below to see the new stuff you can sell or will sell soon.

Growth
AT&T

AT&T Cybersecurity's partnership with Box will ease the needs of both companies' joint customers.

Box's cloud content management is going into AT&T's unified security management offering. Their shared customers now can use granular logging capabilities and APIs. One AT&T executive wrote that the partnership streamlines the compliance process and the number of security dashboards customers must use.

Read our story about AT&T and Box.
Growth
Windstream

Windstream Enterprise launched new Wi-Fi and analytics offerings, cloud-managed switches and intelligent IP cameras as part of a new local area network (LAN) services collection.

The carriers touts the new solutions as a single-source option for customers that don't want to aggregate from multiple vendors anymore. Windstream moreover said that the LAN services moreover fit naturally with UCaaS and SD-WAN, which are two of the company's most "strategic" offerings.

Read about the recent launch.
Growth
Telarus

The Utah-based master agent unveiled a software application that analyzes subagents' commissions.

The company said anticiPAY helps partners determine how much they can borrow via Telarus' Commission Advance program. CEO Adam Edwards said the loan program previously did its calculations manually and took much longer than the process will now take.

Read the announcement Telarus made at our recent conference.
Growth
WTG

WTG, now a part of AppSmart as a result of its acquisition by AppDirect, set the launch date for its new marketplace.

The master agent said the marketplace will improve how its subagents register leads and sales. It offers a single sign-on and access to all of WTG's training and certification programs.

Read WTG's announcement.
Growth
Verizon

A new Verizon Enterprise service connects voice customers to the Microsoft Teams unified communications platform.

The Verizon Session Border Control as a Service (SBCaaS) powers the new service, which helps embed the Verizon voice infrastructure into the Microsoft Teams platform. Verizon’s director of unified communications and collaboration told us that the new service taps into a successful track record with SIP trunking and an opportunity to attract partners that are skilled in Microsoft environments.

Here's what you need to know about the new Verizon offering.
Growth
CallTower

CallTower announced a new conferencing service with the help of Zoom.

CT Cloud Meeting, the latest member of CallTower's CT Cloud Solution Suite, includes face-to-face video, screen sharing and instant messaging, and is compatible with mobile and desktop. CallTower said the solution supports a distributed, mobile workforce.

Edward Gately has the scoop.
Growth
AWS

Amazon Web Services is rolling out a new set of instances powered by AMD.

The new generation of T3a instances are needed to handle more "bursty" workloads. Jeffrey Burt writes for Channel Futures that AWS is also "widening its embrace of AMD’s Epyc server chips."

Learn about the additions.
Growth
Dell

The company released new storage and data protection products at Dell Technologies World.

One new offering is the EMC Unit XT, a storage offering geared toward midrange applications and workloads. A new security offering is the data management platform PowerProtect Software, which is software-defined and self-serviced, according to Dell.

Lynn Haber wrote about the conference for Channel Futures.
Growth
Google

Google Cloud launched a whole slew of new products and services.

The most important release may be Anthos, its hybrid and multicloud software platform. Partners praised Google Cloud's recently appointed CEO. One described him as "clearly partner-centric."

The new CEO unveiled the new products at Google Cloud Next 2019 in San Francisco.
Growth
Microsoft

The corporation plans to reboot its conferencing and collaboration hardware for Microsoft Surface this summer.

Surface Hub 2S features an improved active touch, integration with Microsoft Office apps and teams and 4K display. Microsoft also is offering an optional battery pack that lets the product last for for two hours when unplugged. Microsoft will launch the new product in the U.S. in June.

Jeffrey Schwartz has the story.
Growth
Juniper

Juniper Networks launched a cloud-based software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) service.

The company now delivers its Contrail Service Orchestration through the cloud and has integrated Mist Systems' wireless LAN into the platform. Juniper recently purchased Mist.
