Knowledge Vault has launched a platform to allow managed service providers (MSPs) to offer secure cloud-based collaboration services.

The New York-based analytics and reporting solutions company’s new analytics-as-a-service platform enables MSPs to offer services that can help customers cost-effectively solve their data governance strategies for the cloud, according to Knowledge Vault CEO Christian Ehrenthal.

The new company’s product is the second launched by Ehrenthal recent. Ehrenthal is also CEO of GridVision, a new remote monitoring and management platform launched in November 2014. But here’s what Ehrenthal had to say about Knowledge Vault.

“We designed and launched the Knowledge Vault platform to reduce risk and costs, improve decision-making and ensure good data governance,” Ehrenthal said in a prepared statement.

Knowledge Vault noted MSPs can use its automation platform to provide license management and cloud-based messaging, email and file sharing services to customers without sacrificing control.

Service providers can use the Knowledge Vault analytics-as-a-service platform to automate various customer projects, including:

  • Discovery and migration to Microsoft Office 365

  • License tracking and management

  • Security, audit and compliance programs

“The advantage of cloud platforms is increased flexibility and reduced – or eliminated – management overhead associated with the underlying infrastructure. However, a number of governance tasks remain,” he said. “Managing configuration and enforcing and auditing appropriate access and license management [issues], to name a few, still need to be performed effectively. By delivering the analytics-as-a-service [platform], Knowledge Vault lets limited IT resources be allocated more strategically.”

Knowledge Vault also is providing MSPs with analytics and auditing tools that they can use to monitor and report on data leakage problems and better support customers’ cloud collaboration projects.

A free community version of the Knowledge Vault analytics-as-a-service platform is now available.

Knowledge Vault, meanwhile, said it will continue to work with MSPs to ensure that they can fully support their customer requests.

“In addition to our free community version and community forums where our users can share reports and feedback, we will continue to be very channel-focused in 2015,” a Knowledge Vault spokesperson told MSPmentor. “We are currently working with multiple partners and have an aggressive roadmap based on feedback to date.”
