Toshiba Invests $3M in Zadara Storage to Expand Teams

Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC) has invested $3 million in storage as a service (STaaS) provider Zadara Storage to expand the storage provider's support, sales, and engineering teams.

Zadara Storage CEO Nelson Nahum says the partnership will assist with integrating disk drive and solid-state drive (SSD) components with storage software.

Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC) has invested $3 million in storage as a service (STaaS) provider Zadara Storage to expand the storage provider's support, sales and engineering teams.

Zadara also said both companies will be working together to introduce STaaS solutions into the marketplace using technology developed by both companies.

"We see a unique and strong strategic fit between our two companies," said George Bouchaya, vice president and chief technology officer, Institute of Strategic Storage Planning & Investment (ISSPI) for Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc., in a prepared statement. "Together we can make a significant impact that would not be possible without this strategic relationship."

Zadara Storage CEO Nelson Nahum said in his prepared remarks that the partnership will assist with efforts to integrate disk drive and solid-state drive (SSD) components with storage software.

"The combination means unique and compelling cloud storage solutions as well as ‘cold storage,’ or secondary storage, solutions," he said.

The coompany said it has raised a total of $10 million to assist with expanding the company's STaaS solutions.

Zadara has worked with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to bring the private cloud to the public cloud and provides off-premises solutions via partnerships with AWS, Dimension Data, Equinix and others.
