Unified Communications

Dialpad on Tuesday unveiled Dialpad Channels and Dialpad Meetings, allowing partners to provider their customers with a unified communications solution.

Dialpad Channels, a new conversational feature within the Dialpad app, helps teams keep lines of communication open and flowing through voice and chat. It delivers a familiar messaging experience with topic-based conversation for groups of all sizes.

In addition, Dialpad unveiled a unified approach to communications as a service. With the launch of Dialpad Meetings, the company is bringing its suite of products closer together across both business communications and customer engagement.

Dialpad Meetings, formerly known as UberConference, adds new capabilities.

Mike Kane is Dialpad’s senior vice president of global channel sales. He said many companies stitch together a mixture of applications provided by different vendors.

“This is typically hard for IT teams to manage and more costly than it needs to be,” he said. “Meetings and Channels are part of Dialpad’s complete communication platform, which offers all of these business communication methods in a single app, built on the same system architecture, and with artificial intelligence (AI) at its core. Because we own our entire tech stack from telephony to messaging, to video meetings, there’s no white-labeling or complex integrations.”

Combating ‘App Overload’

“Whether you’re connecting with colleagues or customers over a variety of communication methods, all interactions take place in one unified platform, helping combat app overload,” Kane said. “Plus, Channels is the only UCaaS and CCaaS provider to offer an open audio line automatically assigned to each channel that participants can enter and leave at will, further reducing the need for another application, while also helping reduce dreaded video fatigue.”

Dialpad developed both Meetings and Channels with the hybrid workforce in mind, Kane said.

“Channels and Sidebar (the audio functionality) aim to replicate those common in-office interactions that drive productivity, from open office hours to one-off questions,” he said. “Having a lightweight communication option that doesn’t require video or opening up yet another app gives customers a quick and easy way to resolve issues and cut down on unnecessary meetings.”

By bringing the UberConference technology closer to the Dialpad app via Meetings, the company is providing a single place to get work done. Furthermore, it helps companies that wish to standardize all of their communications tools.

“And, with new functionality like real-time transcription in Meetings, we’re giving customers the tools they need to focus on the conversations at hand,” Kane said.
