My Digital Shield will now offer “Shield Test,” a free, 30-second, online security assessment tool to measure small businesses’ vulnerability to cyber threats.

Shield Test scans and assesses an SMB’s network and checks for susceptibility to infection by malware or viruses, ranking the existing levels of defense against potential attacks and intrusion. When it comes to cyber security, says Digital Shield, small businesses have the bare minimum with desktop anti-virus.

Shield Test scans an end-user’s network, evaluating the following seven criteria of cyber security:

  • Open Ports Test – identifies any ports that are left open, which can increase the likelihood that cyber intruders can access a system.

  • DDOS Defense Test – mimics a Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) assault to check if a defense is triggered.

  • Malware/Virus Test – checks to make sure the system detects and blocks an attempted malware/virus download.

  • Client-side Attack – tests for the presence of a properly configured Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), protecting clients (computer, tablet, etc.) from an attack.

  • Server-side Attack – tests for an active IPS on the network, properly configured to protect servers.

  • Credit Card Theft Test – attempts to upload credit card numbers from the system to the Internet to test for theft vulnerability and the presence of a DLP system.

  • Bandwidth Test – determines how fast the network Internet connection is; complete security is often a tradeoff for fast Internet. Conducts a TCP bandwidth test instead of a UDP test to show true user experience versus just pipe size.

“As new cyber security threats continue to surface, it’s critical for business owners and IT service providers to ramp up network security to protect against potential risk,” said Andrew Bagrin, CEO and founder of My Digital Shield. “Shield Test is the only free, quick risk assessment tool of its kind that allows end users and IT professionals to test the strength of their network against seven basic cyber protection measures and see a full report of what areas need improvement.”

My Digital Shield sells through channel partners.
