Comcast Taps IT Veteran for Channel Post

Comcast Business has named Barry Williams, a seasoned IT channel executive, as its new senior director of indirect channels.

Comcast Business told Channel Partners that is has named Barry Williams, a seasoned IT channel executive, as its new senior director of indirect channels, reporting to channel chief Craig Schlagbaum.

Williams replaces Kevin Conmy, who has taken a new position at Comcast Business as the regional vice president of Comcast’s Freedom Region, which includes Philadelphia, the company’s headquarters. Comcast has 16 regions.

Williams, who is based in Philadelphia, most recently managed the Central Division team for the Comcast Business National Sales group, a post he held for nearly a year and a half. Prior to Comcast, he spent more than five years at companies outside the tech industry. Prior to that, he spent nearly 10 years with Sun Microsystems (now Oracle), where he held director level sales roles, including a number with channel development and management responsibilities.  Earlier, he spent three years as vice president of sales  direct and indirect  for Okidata.

In his new role, Williams will leverage his background in managing VAR partners to help the cableco’s recruiting efforts. In addition, he will managed all field sales activities, including Comcasts partner sales managers in the field.
