Ingram Micro CEO Gregory Spierkel believes the economic recovery is real, and is positioning the distributor for multiple emerging opportunities — perhaps even with SaaS and cloud partners. Spierkel shared his business views with The VAR Guy during a FastChat video earlier today. Here are the details.

First, a little background. Spierkel is at the Ingram Micro VTN conference in Hollywood, Fla., where several hundred VARs and managed services providers are exploring business and technology opportunities. Ingram is set to announce quarterly financial results next week, so Spierkel can’t share any deep financial details right now.

However, he did offer the following broad-level thoughts in this FastChat video:

  • 0:00 – The economic recovery — is it real?

  • 1:10 – SaaS and Cloud — where will Ingram Micro play and where won’t Ingram Micro play?

  • 2:45 — Ingram Micro’s top priorities for 2010

  • 4:30 — Finding more information

  • 4:50 — Conclusion

Feeling Good

Generally speaking the mood here at the VTN conference is upbeat. Ingram is busy evangelizing a business intelligence portal that will allow VARs and partners to more closely track business trends and potential customer opportunities.

And there’s also some chatter about Ingram potentially working more closely with Microsoft, Salesforce.com and RackSpace in the cloud market. Hmmm… The VAR Guy is still digging for details on that rumor.

In the meantime, Spierkel certainly sounds optimistic about recent economic trends.
