Call it an Ah-Hah moment: Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions is launching a portal that allows VARs and managed service providers to register deals with multiple vendors. What a smart, simple idea. But will it work?To be sure, The VAR Guy is impressed with the concept. Many solutions providers don’t have the time or patience to log into multiple vendors’ deal registration systems. Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions plans to solve the problem with SolutionRegistration, a portal that launches on July 6.
According to a press release, the portal:
“simplifies and speeds the process of qualifying for pricing discounts, higher sales margins and rebates by enabling resellers to register for multiple programs from various suppliers through an online, secure portal. Suppliers see deal registrations as they’re submitted, and resellers receive an e-mail generated by the portal once the supplier approves the deal, resulting in an automated and streamlined deal-registration process.”
True believers include VMware, Fortinet, Lakeside Software, and McAfee — all of whom will support the portal at launch — with additional vendors to be added incrementally as the portal gains momentum.
During a briefing yesterday, The VAR Guy had virtually no questions for Arrow. Our resident blogger’s reaction: Why didn’t somebody think of this sooner?
Bottom line… If it works, the SolutionRegistration could do for deal registration what the iPhone App Store did for mobile applications: Centralize everything, eliminate complexity, and speed online transactions.
