Looking for Free Virtualization Monitoring? VMTurbo Has It
Are you a cash-strapped, budget-conscious IT admin? Maybe you’re a VAR or MSP looking to save a few bones managing some virtualized environments. That’s where VMTurbo says it can help you. The company has launched the VMTurbo Community Edition, completely free for anyone to download. But is it too good to be true?
First, you’re probably wondering who VMTurbo is. The company traditionally hasn’t popped up on our radar, but it offers the VMTurbo Engine, a platform VMTurbo built for cloud providers and MSPs to use for managing and reporting on data center systems with an obvious focus on virtualization. But VMTurbo is likely looking for a bit more product proliferation, so it has released a community version of its management suite dubbed Community Edition. It’s not a snappy name, but it works. Community Edition is set to offer the same real-time monitoring and reporting from the company’s flagship products, in addition to the following listed features:
- Infrastructure monitoring
- Problem detection
- Performance reporting
- Capacity reporting
- Capacity alerting
VMTurbo says it’s simply trying to help companies take the dive into virtualization via baby steps. VMTurbo hopes that trying out Community Edition will be a no-brainer for companies, since the only investment is the time needed to set it up. If you love Community Edition, VMTurbo has a few other things you might be interested in: VMTurbo Enterprise Operations Manager offers capacity planning and real-time optimization, while a uniquely tailored VMTurbo Cloud Operations Manager can actively handle the management of multiple data centers and/or cloud environments. Sorry, they’re not free, so you’ll have to get a quote from VMTurbo.
Can VMTurbo stand out among all the other major virtualization players in the channel? VMTurbo is a newcomer, starting up in 2009, and just now making its first big foray with Community Edition, so we’ll continue to keep tabs on the budding upstart. In the meantime, jump in and let us know if VMTurbo Community Edition is just what you were looking for.
