MDM Milestone: Sophos Hits 1M Devices Managed

Provider of mobile device management (MDM) solutions Sophos announced that more than one million devices worldwide are now managed by the company’s MDM solution. In addition, Sophos provided several MDM developments over the past year to its customers. We’ll review the company’s highlights.

The following Sophos highlights are from the past year:

  • Acquisition of DialogsSophos acquired Dialogs earlier in the year to promote its enterprise mobile protection,

  • Sophos Mobile Control 2.5 — The company released a hosted version of its mobile device management (MDM) solution, Mobile Control. The software as a service (SaaS) option is based on the company’s Mobile Control on-premise software which the company updated in August. The hosted solution lets companies manage mobile devices without changing their own backend infrastructures or making new capital investments and is the first of a full range of hosted security applications the company plans to release,

  • Sophos Mobile Security for Android Devices — The company released two new apps—Sophos Mobile Security and Sophos Mobile Encryption—to extend protection for Android devices,

  • Sophos Partnership with Scientific Software & Systems — Sophos forged a deal with New Zealand-based IT solutions provider Scientific Software & Systems (SSS) that would offer customers mobile device management (MDM) in the cloud through Sophos’ Mobile Control product. Through this partnership IT administrators are provided with the ability to secure, monitor and control the configuration of mobile devices connecting to the corporate network.
