Four new networking vendors have partnered with Zscaler to incorporate its security into their software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) solutions.

Riverbed, InfoVista, Talari Networks and Nuage Networks have joined Zscaler’s list of “jointly validated SD-WAN solutions.” Zscaler says more businesses are seeing how SD-WAN makes local internet breakouts easier, but they are also seeing the need to secure those breakouts.

“Today’s cloud applications break traditional hub-and-spoke architectures. Apps like Office 365 and Azure require direct internet connections to deliver a fast user experience, and organizations are turning to SD-WAN to provide those direct connections in their branch offices,” said Punit Minocha, Zscaler’s vice president of business and corporate development. “Zscaler provides the critical missing piece, security, while eliminating the cost and management complexity of appliances.”

“As our customers move more applications to the cloud and migrate to SaaS, they are using Citrix NetScaler SD-WAN to create an always-on network to efficiently and securely deliver apps to users in branch offices,” said Chalan Aras, vice president, Netscaler SD-WAN, Citrix. ” By partnering with Zscaler, we are able to protect users and data from sophisticated attacks, while retaining centralized and intuitive management, advanced analytics and the best application delivery experience that they’ve come to expect from NetScaler SD-WAN.”

Sylvain Quartier, InfoVista’s senior vice president of product strategy enterprises, says his company’s solution will get “advanced security features” from Zscaler and a connection to Zscaler’s secure web gateways. He says customers from different branch offices will get a secured and optimized Internet access.

“This allows enterprises to securely enable their digital transformation with an application-aware network solution,” he said.

Josh Dobies, vice president of product marketing at Riverbed, a company that has labeled itself the “leading disruptor of Cisco’s “SD-WAN solution, says the partnership will unify how partners and their customers manage WAN security with WAN optimization and connectivity.

“The combined Riverbed and Zscaler offering provides customers with an intuitive and powerful SD-WAN solution that unifies management of WAN connectivity, security and optimization across the entire network based on policy and orchestration,” he said.

In addition to those announced Thursday, Zscaler’s other networking partners are Citrix, Viptela, Silver Peak and VeloCloud.

“As geographically distributed enterprises fast-track SD-WAN deployments, they are rapidly coming to the realization that securing application traffic over broadband internet connectivity is paramount to the success of their business,” said Fraser Street, vice president of technical alliances at Silver Peak.
