i365 Reports Cloud Connected Storage Partner Momentum

Here’s a quick bit of cloud chatter for the MSP crowd out of this week’s Cloud Computing Expo in New York: i365, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Seagate, has announced that it’s hit the 30-partner milestone for its unique EVault Cloud-Connected Service Provider Program (CCSP). Here’s a quick look back.

As a quick refresher, the EVault CCSP was i365’s unique play to reintroduce the IT channel to the cloud storage equation. Essentially, EVault acts as the middleman between the customer and the cloud, backing data up to the i365 partner‘s on-premises storage array. It officially launched in November of 2010, meaning that i365 has just over half a year of experience under its belt.

And now at Cloud Computing Expo, i365 is boasting that with the addition of service providers Varay Systems, Network Medics, Compuquip Technologies, NOEVA and Avantage, they’ve hit the aforementioned 30 partner mark, according to the press release.

Here’s what i365 General Manager Terry Cunningham had to say in a prepared statement to mark the occasion:

“With EVault CCSP, our partners offer their customers a multi-site, Cloud-based backup and recovery solution without incurring the costs, risks, and long learning curves that come with developing their own hosting infrastructure. But more importantly, our partners bring this solution to their customers with localized expertise so that they can benefit from a personalized, managed solution that meets their needs.”

At first glance, 30 partners looks like a conservative milestone. But it sounds like i365 has been rolling out the partner program in a very tactful manner to make sure the right partners are signing up.
