Amazon Web Services (AWS) has hired itself a former Google (GOOG) employee—and not just any Google employee, but the man responsible for heading up the Google Glass project team. The details are few and far between regarding Babak Parviz's move to Amazon (AMZN) and the responsibilities he will take on, but according to some reports, the guy behind Google Glass has joined Amazon Web Services in an (so far) unspecified role.

An Amazon spokesperson was only able to confirm that Amazon had indeed hired Parviz. No other details were provided.

While at Google, Parviz led the development of the Glass, making him a major player in the wearable computing world. It makes sense that Google rival Amazon brought Parviz on board; any innovative mind is a good one to have on your team. But Parviz's reported shift to Amazon Web Services seems like an odd one.

Although Glass is pretty much connected to the cloud 24/7, cloud computing isn't what Parviz is known for. He's an innovator, for sure, but one focused on wearable computing—a trend that has grown extraordinarily slowly since the idea was first introduced more than 30 years ago by Steve Mann.

But it seems unlikely Amazon Web Services is about to get into developing wearable computing technology (although it seems entirely possible other arms of the Amazon empire could take that leap). So what does Amazon have up its sleeve for the man who gave us Google Glass and all the controversies that come with it?

According to a CNET article, the news about his move to the cloud arm of Amazon is entirely legit. But even CNET, which spoke with Parviz, could offer few details about Parviz's employment with Amazon Web Services.
