Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and VMware (VMW) announced they will expand their partnership with plans to develop preintegrated and pretested solutions to help accelerate adoption and deployment rates for enterprise-scale applications and end user computing solutions running on a software-defined data center. The partnership is expected to help enterprises achieve clear IT outcomes for lower operating costs while simultaneously increasing performance, availability, reliability and security, according to the companies.
TCS and VMware will initially provide offerings for SAP, Oracle (ORCL) and enterprise analytics, with TCS contributing the architectural design, transformation and operational know-how to help customers grow their business solutions. VMware will bring its software-defined data center portfolio to the equation, while giving customers the option to deploy their applications in a hybrid cloud environment using VMware vCloud Air, according to the press release. Additional potential enterprise customers were not disclosed at the time of the announcement.
“With the VMware infrastructure and converged cloud services offerings, TCS will be able to rapidly design, transform and operate traditional IT into software-defined data centers, and deploy mission-critical enterprise workloads in weeks vs. years,” said Raman Venkatraman, vice president and Global Head of Alliances and Technology Unit, TCS, in a statement. “TCS’ proven expertise to drive applications led infrastructure transformation with a programmable model, can now leverage VMware’s technologies to simplify and standardize application workload-driven IT transformations.”
TCS and VMware will also be creating a joint global customer Center of Excellence with two data center locations in Milford, Ohio, and Pune, India, to help customers get answers to their questions and benefit from the new solution. The CoE is expected to help customers beta test their real-world application workloads and assess the value and effort needed to deploy applications in a software-defined data center, according to the announcement.
“VMware is proud to extend its relationship with TCS. Through the joint Center of Excellence, TCS and VMware are bringing together solutions to help enterprises realize the benefits of the software-defined data center,” said Todd Surdey, vice president, Strategic Alliances and Emerging Partners, VMware.
