Ken Trombetta, Vice President for Cisco's Worldwide Partner Organization.
Trombetta: My first job was a Burger King “Fry Guy.” The experience put me in a small club that knows Tartar sauce goes well with french fries. At BK, the Tartar sauce was right next to our fry station and the combination was irresistible.
The VAR Guy says: Yum! We haven't met a french fry we didn't like, so we would definitely be willing to try fries and tartar sauce.
Trombetta: My dream car is a self-driving convertible. To me, no other car could be better than that — allowing me to text and answer emails, as the wind blows through my buzz-cut.
The VAR Guy says: We don't think Google has gotten around to a convertible model of its self-driving car (or perfected the regular version, for that matter) but we have hope that someday you'll be able to cruise down the highway with the top down without having to pay attention to the road.
Trombetta: I took my last vacation this past summer on the Jersey shore (Avalon) with my extended family. What more do you need than sun, surf, good friends and family? It was a true vacation.
The VAR Guy says: That sounds like paradise. We could go for a week or two of sunny skies, warm breezes and hot dogs on the boardwalk.
Trombetta: The book I consider a must-read is "Quiet: The Power Of Introverts In A World That Can't Stop Talking" by Susan Cain – because it reveals how we tend to put value on bravado, but people who spend more time listening than talking have an amazing impact on business and society.
The VAR Guy says: Susan Cain is also a TED Talks speaker, proving that just because you CAN be quiet, it doesn't mean you shouldn't let your voice be heard.
Trombetta: My last “splurge” item was a $400 bottle of Pride Mountain Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon, but it was unintentional. I was at Del Frisco’s in New York having dinner with my son and misread the wine list. I thought I ordered a $95 bottle of wine, but later realized I was one line off. Good wine – but wish I had enjoyed that splurge more!
The VAR Guy says: Ouch! That must have been a big surprise when you got the bill! At least it was a good bottle of wine, or else you would have been even more upset.
Trombetta: I am currently addicted to the Netflix TV series "House of Cards" and cannot wait for the new season to start. I am somewhat of a political junkie.
The VAR Guy says: If you love the political drama on "House of Cards," you must really be loving all the drama surrounding the Republican and Democratic parties these days!
Trombetta: As a kid, I had always wanted to be a professional football player. Especially growing up in Pittsburgh, it was “Steeler Nation” all the way.
The VAR Guy says: You may not have become a running back or a quarterback, but we bet a lot of partners depend on you to help them score a touchdown when it comes to closing customer deals.
