Forbes has named 29 year old Datto CEO Austin McChord to the very top of its “2015 30 Under 30” list of the top 30 enterprise technology influencers under the age of 30. McChord founded the Norwalk, Connecticut-based data backup and disaster recovery (BDR) and business continuity software provider.

Since then he  has helped  the 7 year-old company reach nearly $100 million in sales.

In his brief 30 under 30 profile, McChord revealed that at one point an established security firm had offered to buy out Datto for more than $100 million at a time when he was sole shareholder. He said he passed it up because “there’s more ground for us to cover. I loved my job and the people working at the company.”

McChord’s profile recounts an anecdote of Datto’s heroics in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. It also mentions that Datto now has more than 330 employees.

McChord also said the company took its first outside funding — $25 million from GeneralCatalyst, looking to tap its expertise and “play for real.”
