Actifio Launches Data Management Partner Program for MSPs

The company last year debuted a software suite that aims to pull point products such as backup, snapshot, and replication under one roof. The software suite’s components cover data protection (Actifio DP), disaster recovery (Actifio DR), and business continuity (Actifio BC). Actifio’s technology, which it describes as data management virtualization, virtualizes physical storage devices or cloud-based storage into private, public or hybrid storage clouds.

Ash Ashutosh, Actifio’s chief executive officer, said his company has been working with resellers for several months and is now formalizing its channel initiative. He said the company is pursuing regional and metro-area partners experienced in storage, backup, and virtualization. Channel partners, he added, represent the best way to approach the mid-range market, which is Actifio’s initial target.

Focus Technology Solutions, an MSP in New England and Actifio partner, plans to offer Actifio’s suite to its managed service customers. In a press release, Focus said Actifio’s business continuity solution will let the company eliminate multiple tools.

Other Actifio Partner Program members include International Computerware Inc., Lighthouse Computer Services, Nexus Information Systems, and Open Technologies Inc. The program offers participants training, demand generation programs, and deal registration among other features.

Actifio joins a few other vendors seeking to make sense out of virtualized and cloud storage settings. For example, CommVault in October 2010 unveiled a unified information governance platform to bolster its Simpana 9 data management product. The idea is to let customers protect, store and recover data regardless of the storage environment. Like Actifio, CommVault works through resellers and service providers.
