The Savvis brand is no more. Less than three years of the managed hosting and colocation services company was acquired by CenturyLink (CTL), its parent company has wiped out the old brand to make way for the new brand, CenturyLink Technology Solutions.

It may not quite roll off the tongue the same way Savvis did, but the new name definitely fits better with CenturyLink’s corporate branding and gets risk of that pesky “a CenturyLink company” tagline that got added to just about everything.

“We are pleased to become CenturyLink Technology Solutions, as aligning our brand with CenturyLink demonstrates the deeper ties to the broad portfolio of IT solutions that we collectively deliver for businesses,” said Jeff Von Deylen, president of CenturyLink Technology Solutions, in a prepared statement. “While we are extremely proud of our nearly 20-year legacy operating as Savvis within the industry, we value CenturyLink’s extensive market leadership and look forward to operating under one brand to continue helping businesses become more agile, secure and sustainable with integrated solutions that deliver bottom-line results.”

Even with the new name, though, CenturyLink Technology Solutions will continue to operate as a distinct data hosting business segment within the overall CenturyLink company. Nothing else is changing at this time. Von Deylen noted that “customers will continue to be served by the same account teams providing the same excellent levels of service and experience that enterprises have come to expect from us.”

This rebranding seems like a change that has been inevitable since Savvis was first acquired by CenturyLink in April 2011. It was only a matter of time before the overall Savvis branding was brought in line with the parent’s brand. And now that there’s no confusion as to who owns Savvis, it seems like a good time to finally make the change.
