NComputing Launches Office in a Box Aimed at SMB Space

Fresh off the January 2011 launch of NComputing’s Classroom in a Box, comes the next logical offering for VARs. Office in a Box is aimed at meeting the growing demand of SMBs that want access to new productivity solutions without the cost of upgrading hardware. Read on for some reseller perspective …

Office in a Box is NComputing’s second foray into virtual vertical solutions, and the company cites as its catalyst the same functional need: budget-conscious clients who need to make a change in their IT infrastructure. For office use, this “in-a-box” solution comes with all-inclusive, pretested and easily tailored solutions for whatever the SMB desires. NComputing also claims its solution when compared to traditional one-PC-per-user models can save upfront costs of 75 percent and reduce power and cooling requirements by 90 percent.

Currently, Office in a Box includes host servers, vSpace virtualization software, OS licenses, NComputing virtual desktops and basic peripherals such as keyboards, mice and monitors. Not enough for the beefy SMB you’re serving? No problem — solution add-ons are ready for larger deployments that need them. Plus, everything scales.

Looking ahead, don’t be surprised to see Heath Care in a Box. Jim McHugh, senior VP of global marketing at NComputing, noted in an earlier interview that the company has its sights set on the healthcare and digital signage markets — good news for the channel, since the company considers itself “completely partner-centric.”

We’ll keep a lookout for more NComputing boxes as are delivered to the channel.
