Customers care a lot more about their experience than the technology that helped deliver it.

That was the message from Tiffani Bova, global customer growth and innovation evangelist with Salesforce, who delivered a keynote at Channel Partners Evolution in Austin, Texas.

For example, she noted how many attendees stopped for a $5 coffee at Starbucks before walking into the conference hall where there was free java. These principles should be applied to partners’ businesses.

“What problems do you want to solve in the business world? Who do I need to work with? Ultimately, you’ve got to start with the customer, not, ‘I think this is a cool technology and I’ll find customers for it,’” said Bova.
