RingCentral Buying Kindite for Enhanced Security Capabilities

RingCentral has acquired the technology and engineering team at Kindite, the provider of cloud end-to-end encryption (E2EE). With the acquisition, RingCentral will incorporate Kindite’s technology into its global communications platform.

Kindite develops cryptographic technologies that mitigate and reduce security and privacy risks to information and applications in the cloud.

RingCentral isn’t saying how much it’s paying for Kindite. The RingCentral acquisition closed this quarter.

“We believe that Kindite has developed some impressive technology, in particular, E2EE,” she said. “This will reduce our time to deploy next-generation security for RingCentral customers and is part of the ongoing investments we make in ensuring our customers are safe and secure.”

With these cryptographic technologies, RingCentral will move toward creating a secure zero-trust cloud environment, Hinton said. She calls it a differentiator in the industry for partners to communicate with their customers when selecting a UCaaS solution.

RingCentral’s E2EE will provide the highest level of data confidentiality and privacy, she said.

“In addition, our E2EE will boast implementation and usage of latest and cutting-edge secure group messaging protocols that are designed to address high-performance and large-scale secure collaboration and data privacy,” she said.

The Kindite engineering team has developed a data-protection platform that incorporates cryptographic key orchestration technologies. These technologies allow cloud applications to process encrypted data without decryption.

RingCentral will use Kindite as a cornerstone for building its security capability.
