Profitec Introduces OmniBill.net, Transitions To Internet Delivering Model

Profitec Billing Services (Booth 210) has taken the wraps off a Web-based replacement of its server-based master database, dubbed OmniBill.net. The move is part of a greater strategy of transitioning Profitecs OmniSuite retail billing and OSS product set to an Internet-delivered model.

The new online hosted version of OmniBill component contains OmniCare CRM for order entry, change management, client contact, order processing and trouble management, all via a browser-based tool that interacts with the main OmniBill.net database. Users can work anywhere with Internet access, outsourcing of customer care is fully supportable and there is no need to install anything on the user desktop, thus simplifying installation, implementation and updates. OmniCare CRM also is available as a standalone application.

OmniSuite integrates the OmniBill customer management and billing system with order entry, sales management and e-billing. The suite provides everything from intelligent order entry with validation and financial decision making to customer-driven electronic billing analysis tools. In addition to OmniCare CRM, Profitec also has made its OmniAgent sales channel management system, its OmniSignup consumer-oriented online order entry system, and its OmniView electronic bill presentment and payment system Web-based.

Profitec is doing all new development in .NET, Microsoft Corp.s next-generation application development framework. Looking ahead, the company plans to roll out the Data Intelligence Center, where all of the reporting areas within OmniBill have been replicated online.

Operating as a billing service bureau for almost 20 years has required us to have an ongoing commitment to research and development in an effort to continue to modernize our products wherever technology offers a solid advantage, says Randy Minervino, vice president of sales and marketing. Originally operating as a mainframe service bureau, Profitec over the years has ported its application to a server environment, redeveloped for the Windows operating system, moved its database structure to SQL Server and developed in multiple programming languages. We also explored and incorporated areas where the Internet allows significant advantage as a medium of communication and information dissemination.
