Cloud communications provider Momentum Telecom founder Alan Creighton is stepping down as president and CEO, to be succeeded by William “Bill” Fox, the company said today.

Creighton will remain on the board of directors.

This is an exciting time for Momentum,” Creighton said in a press release. “Bill Fox is an excellent leader and I am confident that his strong business background and shared vision in cloud communications will ensure Momentums continued success and advancement.”

Fox has worked for Momentum for more than three years, most recently as interim CFO and a board member. He takes the lead role as Momentum says it’s experiencing 500 percent growth so far this year, as the board has approved an undisclosed amount of equity to pay for sales and product growth. Momentum also just bought Twist, one of its wholesale VoIP partners.

Fox previously served as CFO of SuccessEHS Inc, a software and services company for physician offices. He also has worked for Lincoln International and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Creighton founded Momentum in 2001 as a traditional telephony service provider for residential and business customers. Over the years, he transitioned the company to IP voice, cloud platforms and more. Privately held Momentum did not say why Creighton is stepping down from his post.
