ClearNation Joins X2nSat Channel Program

X2nSat has added telecom agent ClearNation Communications USA LLC to its channel program.

ClearNation is based in the Midwest and plans to sell X2nSat’s satellite services with a business continuity/disaster recovery focus. That’s a big part of X2nSat’s model, CEO Garrett Hill told Channel Partners last year.

“When we look at businesses, they all have primary connectivity,” he said. “We are the first to agree that 2MBps fiber from Comcast is the cheapest way to solve the problem. But you need two services. As you are going to cloud or hosted services, its critical to have a reliable connection. If it goes down, not only does the office become unproductive, customers cant reach them. Today, if they have a T1, they get a second one from another carrier, but its usually on the same facilities, so they need a true diverse path. The first thing they turn to is 3G/4G data card. But as [Hurricane Sandy] in New York City showed, the disruption can take out towers or they can become overrun by consumers. There is no business-grade service. Its not a very effective back-up method.”

To that point, Donald Moehlenkamp, president of ClearNation, said his company will position X2nSat as a backup provider. Agents will “show our clients and prospective clients how and why they don’t have to be at the mercy of the environment and severe weather conditions that might threaten their vital communication needs for keeping their businesses running,” he said.

X2nSat was founded in 1996 as an integration called Advanced Projects International. A few years ago, the company turned into a network operator when it bought the business division of ViaSat, which operates a consumer service called WildBlue. At that time, Advanced Projects International changed its name to X2nSat. But the provider still had not moved into the channel. Now, though, X2nSat has added the channel to its distribution strategy, debuting its program at last week’s Channel Partners Conference & Expo in Las Vegas.
