AudioCodes Ltd., a provider of VoIP infrastructure products, announced several new products and product relationships at the VON Spring 2006 conference.

AudioCodes has partnered with Microsoft Corp. to create a bundle of Microsofts Exchange server and AudioCodes gateways.

This allows someone with an existing PBX to use Exchanges SIP features, said Alan Percy, director of business development for AudioCodes. Voice mail is sent from a traditional PBX through the gateway then as SIP traffic to Exchange. They use Outlook to get their messages, and they can use this to do voice mail to e-mail, Percy explained, adding this bundle reflects a larger trend in application development to the use of SIP exclusively.

Application developers used to support all the different boards with different APIs. Now they say, We are going to support SIP and how you connect to the outside world is your problem, Percy said.

The same is true in the IVR (interactive voice response) space, said Lior Weiss, director of product marketing, IPMedia, for AudioCodes. Many have abandoned PSTN boards and support only SIP and use gateways from us and others to connect.

The company announced the availability of a new compactPCI media gateway blade that offers up to three T3 interfaces. The TP-6310/T3 with its three T3 connections, supports 672 to 2016 low-bit-rate universal channels. The blade supports a range of signaling, including SIP, MGCP, TGCP and Megaco, as well as AudioCodes’ API over IP (TPNCP).

According to AudioCodes, the product is the only complete gateway on a board with this level of density. TIs (Texas Instruments) new DSP family is used in the platform and really helped increase density, and a little black magic from our software developers, said Percy.

AudioCodes is selling the product as both a standalone board and as an appliance as the Mediant 3000 gateway.

AudioCodes also has partnered with Digium to do certification testing between its SIP gateways and Digiums Asterisk Business Edition software. The testing will reflect the broadening applications of Asterisk, which is being used in applications such as prepaid calling and IVR in addition to its original PBX applications.
