VCE Unveils New Vblock Systems, Solutions

VCE rolled out a slew of new Vblock Systems, integrated solutions and technology extensions this month, including its new all-flash-based Vblock System 540, broadening its portfolio of turnkey converged infrastructures to help transform customer data centers for private and hybrid clouds.

“The IT industry continues to shift toward hybrid cloud computing models, which requires organizations to re-evaluate their approach for how to deliver IT services,” said Todd Pavone, executive vice president, Product Strategy and Development at VCE, in a statement. “Our new Vblock Systems, integrated solutions and technology extensions are a significant step forward in helping VCE customers prepare for the hybrid world, providing new options that help them simplify how they deploy and manage infrastructure while enabling innovation and operational efficiencies that can drive value back into their businesses.”

VCE’s new portfolio includes:

* The Vblock System 740, powered by next-generation Cisco Unified Computing, Cisco Nexus ACI-Ready networking and EMC VMAX 3 storage, is VCE’s flagship converged infrastructure that introduces several new capabilities including 3X storage performance, 50 percent lower TCO and simple provisioning based on service level objectives.

* The Vblock System 540 is the industry’s first all-flash-based converged infrastructure system for consolidating mixed workloads such as private clouds, databases and related business applications, according to the company. The Vblock System 540 is powered by EMC’s market-leading XtremIO all-flash arrays and next-generation Cisco Unified Computing, Cisco Nexus ACI-Ready networking.

* The Vblock System 240 is a complete converged infrastructure system for medium-sized businesses and distributed remote offices. Based on EMC’s entry-level VNX5200, Vblock System 240 is engineered with a streamlined form factor and designed for customers who desire a minimal-scale, high-performance infrastructure solution.

* The VCE Integrated Solution for Cloud Management with Cisco (CSCO) provides pre-integrated, pre-tested and pre-validated software for IaaS and Vblock virtual resource provisioning based on Cisco UCS Director. This solution greatly simplifies the automation and provisioning of virtual data centers running on Vblock Systems with efficient allocation of compute, network and storage resources, enabling customers to focus on the development and delivery of innovative cloud services rather than manual processes and routine maintenance.

* The VCE Integrated Solution for Cloud Management with VMware (VMW) provides pre-integrated, pre-tested and pre-validated software from the VMware vRealize Suite management platform. This solution enables customers to automate the provisioning and orchestration of private and hybrid cloud environments to reduce time-consuming manual processes. The vRealize Suite also features intelligent operations, capacity, performance, configuration and log management, to provide infrastructure and application service quality, as well as full business management with automated service costing and analytics.

* The VCE technology extension for EMC Isilon storage integrates scale-out storage with a Vblock System to consolidate and manage enterprise data and applications. Vblock Systems now can be expanded to incorporate large-scale user data for virtual desktop infrastructure, enterprise data lakes for Big Data and Hadoop data analytics, and scale-out NAS. Additionally, by enabling multiuse, multiprotocol and multitenant capabilities, the VCE technology extension for EMC Isilon storage accelerates adoption of emerging applications such as Hadoop Distributed File System.

* The VCE technology extension for Cisco UCS compute utilizes next-generation Cisco Unified Computing technology to power compute-intensive applications, such as specialized graphics processing, performing seismic modeling, handling digital media transcoding and complying with HIPAA privacy and security regulations. Integration with Vblock System converged infrastructure enables compute resources to be added incrementally and consistently provisioned monitored and managed, according to the company.

All three of the new Vblock systems are available now, with the rest of the new Vblock Integrated Solutions for Cloud Management and VCE technology extensions available within 90 days, according to VCE.
