Washington, D.C.-based managed service provider (MSP) eGuard Technology Services has added a computer network services and technology support specialist to its portfolio.

eGuard this week announced it has acquired NewTeQ Computer Services, an MSP that supports small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in and around Frederick, Maryland. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition allows eGuard to extend its geographic reach and provides the company with a new growth avenue, eGuard CEO Khaled Farhang said. NewTeQ customers will now be able to use eGuard’s services as well.

“While this is officially an acquisition, I instead view it as eGuard Technology Services and NewTeQ Computer Services joining together to build upon an already solid foundation of two individual companies that will now be an even stronger company, offering expanded resources, technical expertise and additional staff,” Farhang said in a prepared statement.

Lynda Wagner, NewTeQ’s CEO, will lead the new eGuard location in Frederick and focus on serving customers in that area.

“NewTeQ has shared a very close business partner relationship with eGuard for many years,” she said. “Our companies have shared a similar vision and company culture, which makes this acquisition both a solid fit and strong growth strategy on continuing to serve and expand SMB customer bases from Washington, D.C. to Frederick.”

An eGuard spokesperson told MSPmentor that the company plans to expand its offerings and extend its market reach following the acquisition. eGuard said the acquisition would not affect its current customers.

eGuard provides computer network services and technology support to SMBs in Washington, D.C., while NewTeQ offers computer, PC and network support to Frederick businesses.
