Distribution Watch: Westcon Group, Ingram Micro

Welcome to a new month and a new edition of Distribution Watch, your favorite spot for up-to-the-minute news on tech distributors in the channel. Read on for lots of exciting news from Westcon Group and Ingram Micro (IM). Let’s get started.

Westcon Group: Westcon announced its intentions to acquire U.K. managed services provider Intact Integrated Services to strengthen the company’s commitment to partner-led services offerings. Intact, which offers unified communications, network infrastructure and security solutions, said the acquisition will also help it empower its reseller customers with a broader range of services capabilities.

Intact is currently part of Weston Group’s Global Services Solution Practice, where the company focuses on areas including security, unified communications, cloud and global deployment. Intact previously was a direct subsidiary of Westcon’s parent company Datatec Limited. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed; however, the deal is scheduled to close later this month.

Ingram Micro: Ingram announced it has signed a U.S. distribution agreement with mobile POS software provider e-Nabler Corp. Under the terms of the agreement, Ingram Micro will begin distributing e-Nabler’s eMobilePOS mobile point of sale software to its channel partners in the United States.

Ingram Micro said the addition of e-Nabler’s flagship POS software is part of its overall plan to expand its solutions portfolio for the retail and hospitality markets with the addition of a full-featured mobile POS solution for both small merchants and larger enterprises. The company plans to offer eMobilePOS as either a cloud-based option or through a native app currently compatible with both Android 4.0 or higher and iOS 6 or higher (a Windows 8.1 compatibility update is expected soon).

Ingram Micro also acquired Global Mobility Products (GMP) this week, as the company expands its reach into the Canadian wireless device lifecycle services market. The Ontario-based Global Mobility Products provides mobile reverse logistics, repair and asset recovery services to its resellers, with the company selling to some of the largest mobile operators and retailers in Canada. Ingram Micro expects the acquisition will yield an opening into Canada’s growing high-value services and mobility market.

That wraps up this edition of Distribution Watch. Make sure you swing on by next week for more distribution news and updates on all your favorite companies large and small. Have a great weekend and enjoy the May sunshine.
