Accenture (ACN), an Atlanta-based global systems integrator, has acquired cloud services broker Cloud Sherpas to boost its growing cloud services strategy.

The purchase is expected to give Accenture access to a host of new capabilities for its Cloud First Applications Team, including cloud strategy, technology consulting and application management, among others. The company said the addition of Cloud Sherpas’ expertise will help flesh out its cloud services for companies including Googe, NetSuite, Salesforce, ServiceNow and other “pure play” technologies.

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“Cloud Sherpas was born in the cloud and we are perfectly aligned with Accenture’s Cloud First agenda,” said David Northington, Cloud Sherpas chief executive officer, in a statement. “The combination of our capabilities and experience with Accenture’s scale, broad industry expertise and global cloud application capabilities represents a unique and compelling opportunity for our clients, for our people and for the future of cloud technology.”

Cloud Sherpas was founded in 2007 and currently has more than 1,000 employees, according to the announcement. The company also ranked as No. 56 on the Talkin’ Cloud 100 list of cloud service providers. Last year, it made a $10 million investment in a new global cloud advisory business unit and recently launched a Managed Services group in April.

Accenture’s purchase is the latest in a string of business deals related to the burgeoning cloud services market, including the company’s recent acquisition of Axia, a consulting services company, as well as Spanish cloud consulting firm Solium.
