IT services and consulting firm NexusTek (No. 33 on the 2018 Channel Futures MSP 501) has completed three more acquisitions this year — Cal Net Technology Group, Syndeo Technologies and Decision Consultants (DCI). The purchases in Southern California, Arizona and New England, respectively, mark five for NexusTek this year and eight in four years, each of which "directly benefits customers by augmenting the company’s core competencies and ability to execute best practices." NexusTek is backed by Abry Partners, a private-equity firm with more than $77 billion of leveraged transactions under its belt.Shutterstock

Trustwave now fully manages Palo Alto Networks‘ next-generation firewalls, Traps advanced endpoint protection, GlobalProtect cloud services and Cortext XDR, its newest platform, for enterprises.

The MSSP has expanded its alliance with Palo Alto for delivering managed security services (MSS) to businesses and institutions globally. The alliance will continue around key areas including cross-environment protection and cloud services that extend protection to remote networks and users anywhere in the world.

Trustwave’s Chris Schueler

Chris Schueler, Trustwave’s senior vice president of managed security services, tells us Palo Alto has a strategy that “aligns very closely” with his company’s, which is focused on “being preemptive with our ability to protect our customers and eliminate threats.”

“Enterprises today need to shift their mindset to more proactive cybersecurity programs focused on quick detection and response as threats become increasingly sophisticated,” he said.

Palo Alto’s new Cortex is an open and integrated artificial intelligence (AI)-based continuous security platform. Trustwave will host managed services for Cortex, starting with Cortex XDR, a detection, investigation and response product that natively integrates network, endpoint and cloud data to stop sophisticated attacks.

“Trustwave has been working closely with Palo Alto Networks for over 12 months on aligning our MSS capabilities supported by Trustwave SpiderLabs, our team of elite security practitioners, to create a differentiated service designed to rapidly detect and eliminate attacks as they occur for our clients,” Schueler said. “We have integrated our joint threat intelligence, which is considered by many as best-in-class, with our managed security services. This delivers a clear advantage from our competition who only advocate sharing of threat intelligence, but not actual integration.”

Trustwave has integrated and enhanced Cortex’s analytics and behavior analysis capabilities into the Trustwave SpiderLabs Fusion Center, its cybersecurity command center, to bolster its team’s ability to detect and quickly resolve threat events, he said.

“Our alliance will address the No. 1 challenge organizations face today, which is reducing dwell time of threats that may have already infiltrated their environments,” Schueler said. “Many of our recent breach investigations have found advanced persistent threats that have gotten in and sat idle for months or years waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike — that is the realization of today’s threat landscape. In addition, having top security practitioners at the helm helps businesses protect their security investments by ensuring technologies are being leveraged correctly and at their fullest potential.”

“Our collaboration will provide more holistic security outcomes delivered through an even simpler managed model,” said Karl Soderlund, Palo Alto‘s senior vice president of worldwide channel sales.
