Another Former PAETEC Exec Lands a New Job

Another PAETEC executive has found a new job in the wake of the Windstream takeover.

Fiber-services provider Sidera Networks said on Monday it has hired Clint Heiden as its president, responsible for revenue generation, including sales, marketing, product management and sales engineering. Heiden had served as head of PAETEC’s fiber services division; before that, he led Intellifiber, part of Cavalier, which PAETEC bought in September 2010.

But the $891 million Windstream purchase of PAETEC is shaking up nearly 300 employees’ career plans  Windstream said earlier this month it would cut 280 jobs. It wasn’t clear whether Heiden was laid off from PAETEC or whether he decided to leave the company after the Windstream merger. His former boss, PAETEC co-founder Arunas Chesonis, departed as CEO once the deal closed; Chesonis now works in the renewable energy sector as CEO of Sweetwater Energy.

Meanwhile, Heiden said he is pleased about joining Sidera.

The company is well known in the industry for delivering high-quality services and customer focused support,” he said in a prepared statement. “I look forward to using my skills and experience to further enhance this reputation.”

Heiden has worked in the telecom industry for about 20 years, at companies including Cable & Wireless America, Qwest, UUNET and InterCon Systems. His experience at Cavalier and PAETEC bodes well for the channel since Sidera, which used to be RCN Metro, sells Ethernet, SONET, Internet access, dark fiber and other high-capacity services to enterprise and other customers through channel partners.
