Lumen Technologies has unveiled Lumen Edge Private Cloud, a complete IT solution that includes compute, storage, network and security.

Lumen Edge Private Cloud is an infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) fully managed by Lumen. It helps businesses go to market with the capacity needed for interaction-intensive applications.

Furthermore, it’s based on VMware Cloud Foundation and Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) technology coupled with VMware Cloud Director.

Additionally, the solution is available to 2,200 third-party data centers in North America, EMEA, APAC and Latin America, on customer premises, and to VMware Cloud on AWS.

Dave Young is Lumen’s senior vice president of strategic sales. He said the solution offers a new way for partners to help their customers get the connectivity for next-generation applications.

Lumen Edge Private Cloud … brings together one of the world’s leading private cloud platforms with the Lumen global fiber network, edge facilities, security and managed services,” he said. “This combination uniquely helps bridge clouds, IT infrastructure and storage to allow applications to run at peak performance.”

The solution gives customers the ability to have a customized private cloud environment up and running within days, Young said.

Lumen provides design, implementation, managed services and security consulting support to ensure a smooth implementation and excellent customer experience,” he said.

Businesses are looking to  take advantage of increasing amounts of data in a cost-effective way, Young said. Therefore, they are moving enterprise workloads to the edge.

“Lumen Edge Private Cloud combines the flexible, scalable and cost-effective benefits of the cloud with the security, low latency and high performance of our edge services,” he said.

Edge Solutions Helping with Workload Performance Requirements

The solution and other Edge solutions can help customers meet growing workload performance requirements and evolving business demands, Young said.
