10n2 Technologies Brings Anti-Distracted-Driving Software to the Channel

CHANNEL PARTNERS Distracted drivers are 23 times more likely to be in accidents compared to drunken drivers, who are eight times more likely and on-the-job crashes are costing employers $24,500 per incident. Those stats come from a 2009 study from the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, and highlight the dangers of, above all, texting while driving. To that end, 10n2 Technologies (Booth #109) is debuting the Android and BlackBerry versions of its anti-distracted-driving software, technology that disables a driver’s cell phone while the vehicle is moving.

The 10n2 Technologies software differentiates between drivers and passengers. The technology cannot be disabled by end-users. And, it works with smartphones and feature phones. The retail model, for enterprises with fleets (and consumers) is administered through a portal and runs independently of wireless carriers.

“Fleet owners and corporations need a product to mitigate their risks and improve safety for their drivers,” said Ciarán Hynes, CEO of 10n2 Technologies.

As such, 10n2 Technologies is actively targeting agents at the Spring 2012 Channel Partners Conference & Expo in Las Vegas.

“It is a channel we already know and love,” Hynes said.

To that point, the partner program features two tiers Channel Partners and Platinum Partners. The latter comes with more performance expectations and, as a result, higher payouts. For both levels, 10n2 Technologies will pay recurring revenue and an up-front SPIFF. While the company did not specify the percentage ranges of its commissions, it did say percentages will increase with performance. Plus, said Hynes, because 10n2 Technologies’ products install over-the-air, there’s no extensive wait 30, 60 or 90 days for commission checks.

“The channel is acutely focused on cloud-based products and services, where our products are positioned,” said Hynes. “The agents are looking for value-add solutions to give customers, thereby layering new products onto their existing relationships to increase wallet share.”

In addition, 10n2 Technologies’ push into the channel comes with a well-known backer. The company recently secured $1.5 million in funding in a round led by Arunas Chesonis, founder and former CEO of PAETEC.

“I am confident [10n2 Technologies] will play a major part in helping to reduce the number of road accidents, injuries and deaths on our roads,” said Chesonis, who serves as a 10n2 Technologies board director. “For me this is both a personal and strategic business investment.”

For 10n2 Technologies, the investment means the ability to further develop and roll out its technology, as well as fuel its channel resources. To that end, the company employs channel managers, sales engineers and product managers to help partners.

“We are cross-trained in multiple disciplines to support all aspects of the sales process, from prospecting and chasing leads, to processing adds and changes, to answering billing and accounting questions,” Hynes said. “Our team helps every step of the way and we support all the daily service needs of our partners. All they have to do is bring us the lead and we will close the business.”
